Bradford Industrial Museum, visitors enjoy Steampunk exhibition
If talk of Victorian airships, brass goggles and steam-powered computers leaves you wondering what they teach in schools these days, you need to get a dose of steampunk at Bradford’s Industrial Museum.
Since it opened last month, the Steampunk exhibition has drawn in visitors from all over the country.
Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction in which the Victorian age is re-imagined with retro-futuristic technology, amazing adventures and clothes.
It draws its inspiration from classic literature of the day such as novels by HG Wells and Jules Verne, but with a contemporary twist. There are whole groups dedicated to the steampunk lifestyle.
The exhibition includes the Tranzient Gallery – a mini-museum on a bicycle – and the Palace of Curiosities, featuring steampunked memorabilia such as a mermaid.
It is on until May.
